These Arms were devised to reflect the bearer’s dedication to music, learning, harmony, and truth. The lyre symbolises music and artistic vocation; the open book, learning and scholarship; the sun in splendour, illumination and truth; the crescent, renewal and aspiration; and the peacock, beauty, dignity, immortality and noble expression.

The motto “Harmonia et Veritas” states the essential ideal represented by the achievement.
