The
armorial bearings of
Angelo Anthony Sedacca
were designed to reflect
and honour his own
devout Roman
Catholicism, the Italian
heritage of his mother,
Marie Ann Sedacca (nee
Rella); and the
Sephardic-Jewish
heritage of his father,
Joseph Sedacca. The helm
employed is typical of
Italian heraldry, both
in design and depiction.
Since the armiger’s
paternal ancestors were
originally from Spain
(before migrating to
Turkey), the colours of
the Spanish flag (red
and gold) were employed
as the primary colours
of the achievement. Out
of devotion to the
Blessed Virgin Mary, the
colours of blue and
white were also used.
Blue and white also
signify respectively the
armiger’s loyalty to the
Catholic faith, and his
desire to keep the Faith
pure. Consequently, he
has chosen the French
motto: Defendre et
Transmettre la Loi
Divine.
The use
of the primary colours
(red and gold) and the
secondary colours (blue
and white) in concert
represents and honours
the Nine Worthies, all
of whom employed one or
more of these colours in
the armorial bearings
attributed to them.
The
twelve mullets represent
the Twelve Tribes of
Israel and the Twelve
Apostles (the Pillars of
the Catholic Church).
The expanded book
represents truth and
one's search for it. The
book is placed between
the ivory tower of
academia and the papal
throne to demonstrate
that faith and reason
are not contradictory,
but complementary; the
former reveals divine
positive law, while the
latter reveals natural
law. This concept is
also reinforced at the
base of shield where the
crowned Lion of Judah
(Jesus Christ) holds an
academic mace; all truth
emanates from God and
ultimately leads back to
Him. The ivory tower was
utilized to express the
armiger’s role as a
teacher of theology and
foreign language, while
the papal throne denotes
his fidelity to the
Magisterium.
In
addition to representing
the armiger’s
law-enforcement career
and his office as a
notary public, the
scales of justice
symbolize that all of
our actions and
decisions must be
weighed according to the
mandates of divine law.
The swan featured atop
the entire achievement
represents the chivalric
ideals of love, honour,
beauty, and virtue.
The armiger has four (4)
sons who will inherit
his armorial bearings;
namely: Christopher
Michael Sedacca
(American College of
Heraldry #2877),
Nicholas Anthony Sedacca
(American College of
Heraldry #2878), Andrew
Joseph Sedacca (American
College of Heraldry
#3088), and Michael
Anthony Sedacca
(American College of
Heraldry #3457). The
armiger is the only
child of Joseph Sedacca,
the eldest of three (3)
children (all sons) of
Solomon Sedacca and
Regina Bencangey.
The
Armiger is a Knight
Grand Cross of the
Equestrian Order of the
Holy Sepulchre of
Jerusalem, a Knight of
Magistral Grace of the
Sovereign Military Order
of Malta, an Officer of
the Most Venerable Order
of St. John, and an
Ufficiale in the Order
of Merit of the Royal
House of Savoy. As an
Hereditary Knight of the
Order of the Engabu and
the Order of the
Omujwaara Kondo, he has
also been granted
perpetual hereditary
nobility with the style
“The Most Honourable” by
King Solomon Iguru I of
the Bunyoro-Kitara
Kingdom. King Kigeli V
of Rwanda also ennobled
the armiger, conferring
upon him four hereditary
baronial titles and
styling him
“Excellency.”
In February 2011, the
armiger received an
honorary grant of arms
from The College of Arms
in London (Volume 175,
Folio 232) reflecting
his original coat of
arms.
The armiger is also a
member (Distinguido
Miembro de Numero) of La
Real Sociedad de
Armígeros de España;
Fellow of the Royal
Society of the Arts and
of the Royal Asiatic
Society; a member of the
Noble Compañía de
Ballesteros Hijosdalgo
de S. Felipe y Santiago
and of the Capítulo
Noble de Fernando VI;
and a Life Member of:
(a) the Royal Society of
St. George, (b) the St.
George’s Society of NY,
(c) the Naval Order of
the US, and (d) the
Loyal Legion of the US
(MOLLUS).
