As a freemason, the armiger chose the sun as being symbolic; drawn from a masonic lecture:
“The blazing star, or glory in the center, refers us to the sun, which enlightens the earth with its refulgent rays, dispensing its blessings to mankind at large and giving light and life to all things here below.”

The armiger's mother, wife and daughters all have the middle name of rose, the red and white colours are symbolic of his membership in the chivalric Valiant Order of Saint George (KStG). The embattlement is symbolic of the armiger's military past and his life as a disabled combat veteran.

The crest has a very personal significance to the armiger.
