The pale is an allusion to a monk's scapular and represents the armiger's spirituality and symbolises hope and loyalty. The snowflakes are a symbol of the family's struggle with autism. The antlers of the crest, along with the ring of snowflakes, symbolize the armiger's ancestral home in Germany and current home in Michigan. The motto is a translation of "Learning to Live".

The armiger is an engineering manager in the automotive industry where he has worked for over twenty years. An active member of his Catholic parish, the armiger serves as a catechist for middle school students and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
