These
armorial
bearings are
based on the
arms of
Frederick Henry
McClurg and
Timothy Michael
McClurg. The
ravens refer to
a Scottish story
in which a
widow's sons by
three different
men performed
archery to show
prowess with
weapons for
Robert the Bruce
while he was on
the run from the
English. The
brother's names
were Murdoch,
McKie and
McClurg. The
brothers joined
The Bruce's army
until he became
Robert I, King
of Scotland.
