The
armorial bearings of
Rhonda Lynn
McClurg nee Johnson are
used as a courtesy of
her husband’s arms. The
ravens transfixed refer
to a Scottish story in
which a widow's sons by
three different men
performed archery to
show prowess with
weapons for Robert the
Bruce while he was on
the run from the
English. The brother's
names were Murdoch,
McKie and McClurg. The
brothers joined The
Bruce's army until he
became Robert I, King of
Scotland.
The fouled anchor is
representative of the
Mr. McClurg’s father’s
service in the US Navy
and promotion to Chief
Petty Officer. The crest
(not here shown) was
developed to denote the
armiger’s profession as
a scholar with the quill
bendwise due to left
handedness.
