                                                Lawrence Benjamin Lewis

The armiger designed and assumed these arms during his studies in the licentiate program of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada.

The armiger is Associate Professor of Psychological Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans where he teaches courses in cognition and development and researches higher order mental processes across the lifespan. He is an active member of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, the Louisiana Academy of Sciences, and Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honour Society. He is founder and Executive Director of the Jesuit Psychological Society and is a member (chevalier) of The Equestrian, Secular and Chapterial Order of Saint Joachim.

                                                      Dr. Lawrence
                                                      Benjamin Lewis

The fleurs-de-lis and crown in the achievement of arms reflect the armiger’s believed descent from the Franks and Saxons while the sun is symbolic of the search for scientific knowledge and spiritual enlightenment. The pelican and red, wavy design elements represent the armiger's Louisiana heritage as well as the waters of the Red and Mississippi Rivers around which he has spent most of his life.

The “psi-de-lis” or “psy-de-lys” heraldic badge recalls the armiger's cultural heritage and his work as a psychologist. The armiger designed this unique device as a fleur-de-lis Or with foot extended and arms upturned in the form of the Greek letter psi.
