The
oak tree symbolizes the
strength of the
armiger’s family; no
matter how they branch
out, they will always be
strongest together.
The boat under
construction represents
the dedication to
development of craft and
skill. It is also a nod
to the craftsmen and
explorers of the Viking
age from whom the
armiger draws so much
inspiration and has a
deep connection with.
The gold fouled anchors
represent the armiger’s
rank of Chief Petty
Officer and are
emblematic of strength
and steadfastness.
|
The
chain
representing
flexibility and
a reminder to
forge the chain
of life link by
link, day by day
with Honour,
Morality, and
Virtue.
The
blue field
represents the
sea and loyalty
to one's self
and family. The
chevron ploye,
the waves we
must learn to
ride and
challenges we
must overcome. A
smooth sea never
made a skilled
sailor.
The crossed
barley stalk and
axe represent
the crafts of
brewing and
woodwork which
are the
armiger’s
greatest
passions
|
|
The
motto: "Arte
Favente Nil
Desperandum"
meaning "Our
skill assisting
us, we have no
cause for
despair",
captures the
spirit of
craftsmanship
and
industriousness
of the family
and highlights
the armiger’s
efforts to
achieve and
always strive
for the best.
