The
demi-lion of the crest
takes its lead from that
of the Clan Chief,
Cumming of Altyre, a
descendant of Sir Robert
Comyn, the knight who
was killed while
defending his nephew,
John the Red Comyn. The
inverted sword is a
reminder of the Cross of
Christ as displayed by
King Saint Louis IX.
The
arms also reflect those
of the chief in the use
of the three garbs. The
Double Winged Oxen have
a dual representation
for the armiger,
representing the
Christian Gospel of St.
Luke, Apostle of Christ
and Physician, and the
armiger’s personal
Catholic Christian Faith
and Vocational Heritage
as a 3rd Generation
Physician.
The
blue line of the
barrulet represents the
largest geographical
landmark of the area of
the armiger’s birth and
raising, the Mighty
Mississippi River.
The
Motto, Courage Sans
Peur, (Courage without
fear) answers that of
the Clan Chief which is
simply Courage.
The
armiger is a Knight of
Merit of the Sacred
Military Constantinian
Order of St. George and
a Knight of The
Equestrian Order of the
Holy Sepulchre of
Jerusalem.
