This
grant of arms was
created anew for the 8th
Baron of Craigie, Rabbi
Robert Owen Thomas III.
Rabbi Thomas received
the Scottish Feudal
Barony of Craigie
through assignation in
February 2011 (Scottish
Barony Register, Volume
2, Folios 50-52).
The
Barony of Craigie is a
Scottish feudal Crown
barony within and near
Dundee in Scotland.
Craigie has long been
incorporated within the
boundaries of the Royal
Burgh of Dundee; before
that it was a barony
lying on the periphery
of the town.
On 28 October 1662,
Patrick Kyd of Craigie
was retoured in the
third part of the town
and land of Hilton of
Craigie, formerly called
Wester Craigie, in the
barony of Dundee. On 5
April 1677, James Kyd of
Woodhill was retoured in
the third part of the
town and lands of Hilton
of Craigie, the sixth
part of the same, the
teind sheaves of the
same, and the half lands
of Craigie. This was
combined and raised into
the Barony of Craigie.
The title and rights of
the Barony of Craigie
are currently held by
The Much Honoured Rabbi
Robert Owen Thomas, III,
8th Baron of Craigie.
