The arms were granted to John Lucas, settled Dobbs County, North Carolina 1750, great great great great grandfather of Charles Clement Lucas, Jr. MD, and said arms matriculated to the armiger, 27th day of October 2009.

The armiger born August 1942 is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina with degrees in History, Chemistry, and Medicine. He did his residency at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a Colonel and Commandant of the Veteran Corps of Artillery of the State of New York (a Historic Military Command established 1790 and chartered by the United States Congress.) He married 1942 Marcia Helen, daughter of Norbert Holmes Clare, and has issue by her an only son and heir apparent born Suffern, New York December 1981, Ryan Clare Lucas, and an only daughter, Christina Cady Lucas, born Suffern, New York, June 1984. He is the only son of the late Charles Clement Lucas and his wife Sallie Elizabeth, daughter of John Blaney Williams.

The crest of a bull statant is the attribute of Saint Luke and from which the Lucas surname is derived.
