The
original Inglis
arms date from the
middle ages and
depict a silver
lion on a blue
background, Azure
a lion rampant
Argent. The two
stars, mullets, in
silver in the
original arms,
above the lion
derive from fealty
to the Earls of
Mar. The golden
cup or chalice,
cup Or, represents
a special and
significant part
of family history.
The
arms were
updated in 1999
on the
suggestion of
the then Lord
Lyon, Sir
Malcolm Innes of
Edingight, to
include the
original motifs
together with
those reflecting
more recent
familial
history: the
half moon,
Crescent Or, is
for Scott, the
maternal line of
the armiger's
father.
