The single cinquefoil proclaims his surname, the three bezants his commercial activity and the crest alludes to his first name. The motto, translated as Work Conquers All, was the motto of the orphanage where he was raised

The armiger is a broker of Scottish Barony titles and formerly a director of The International Register of Arms.
