The armiger has a great love of the sea and all things maritime and after long discussions with the Chief Herald of Ireland over a number of years the final design, tabled by the Chief Herald, was settled upon, by the armiger, as being the most pleasing and acceptable. Having a grant of arms in his name means a lot to the armiger; he has become a part of Irish history for future generations of both family and others who may seek to research their family history as it provides a permanent record in the National Library of Ireland.
