Arms: Azure a lion rampant Argent crowned with an ancient crown and brandishing in the dexter paw a sword hilt pommel and quillions Or the blade Argent transfixing a stag's head caboshed Gold and  embrued to the point Gules between in chief two spur rowels of six points also Gold.

Crest: On a cap of estate Or turned up Vair a tower Argent in the battlements thereof a falcon wings displayed Or holding in the beak a saltire Sable and in the dexter claw a cross botony per pale Azure and Gules.

Motto: 1. AEDIFICA GRADATIM CUM MISERICORDIA ET DILIGENTIA 2. REGNUM DEVINCIT ALIQUID ALIUD IMPERII DIRUMPIT.

Badge: On a strap buckled Or both ends enfiled by an ancient crown Argent and enclosing above the same a sun in splendour Or charged with a lozenge Sable a falcon's head couped Gold gorged with a collar Or edged Sable.

Standard: A hoist of the arms the fly Murrey containing the crest between two representations of the badge separated by the motto REGNUM DEVINCIT in letters Or on two bends of the field fimbriated Or the whole fringed Argent and Azure.

Robert A. McColgan, Esquire is a former member of the National Board of Directors, Royal Heraldry Society of Canada a former member of the Board of Directors, the Glebe Centre of Ottawa; past President of the Ottawa Rowing Club; former Commanding Officer of the Governor General’s Foot Guards Cadet Corps; former member of the Board of Directors, Army Cadet Foundation of Canada; former Commanding Officer, Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Cadet Corps; past President, Ottawa and Valley Branch, Royal Heraldry Society of Canada and former Officer Commanding Fort Glengarry Garrison, 78th Fraser Highlanders. He is Director of the Heraldic Bureau, Army Cadet League of Canada; Guardian, Court of Guardians of the St. Andrew’s Society of Ottawa and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel, Fort Glengarry Garrison, 78th Fraser Highlanders.

The armiger is pleased to have designed the Arms, Crest and Badge for the Army Cadet League of Canada which were subsequently approved and Granted by the Chief Herald of Canada and published in the Canada Gazette. He also advised Col the Hon John Fraser, Speaker of the House of Commons on Ensigns Armorial for the Office of Speaker and the House, etc.

Robert A .McColgan, Esquire holds the following honours and awards: Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada; Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II; Canadian Forces Decoration, (CD) and Oarsman of the Year Award (1980), Ottawa Rowing Club.
