The Ermine and Gules livery colours represent the armiger’s previous surname of "Jepson" and the distant past that should never be forgotten. The shield with the red lion rampant upon it wearing a crown and holding the scales of justice represents not only the change of surname from "Jepson" to "King", but also symbolises the armiger’s chosen profession of law.

The crest reveals a Phoenix rising from a circlet of gold; the circlet represents a distinction or reward for achievement in sport as the armiger’s main leisure pastime is running. The phoenix is seen grasping in its beak a ragged staff representing the armiger’s connections with the ceremonial county of Warwickshire. The obvious symbolism of the phoenix is that he is newly re-created and thus breaking free from the past, determined, rejuvenated and reborn. The wings of the Phoenix represent both protection and swiftness. It also represents knowledge and the close ties between the armiger and his daughter.
