The
whole achievement of
arms, crest and badge
allude to the twenty
armigerous ancestors of
the armiger. The
cottised bend and
tincture of the shield
(together with the
motto) are taken from
the Harley arms. The
three mural crowns
represent the three
strong points of
Jerusalem: Mt Moriah,
the Tower of David and
the Gate of Pillar and
refers to an early
ancestor who took part
in the first crusade.
More
family links are seen in
the crest. The lion is
from the Plantagenet
arms and the
double-queue is from the
Welles arms. The
indented line is used by
Croft and Skerret and
the tinctures of red and
blue by Dabitot. The
Harwoods’ checky field
is seen in the collar of
the lion and the estoile
is for Rayner. Finally,
the cross crosslet is
found in the Beauchamp
arms.
The
armiger is Lord of the
Manor of Woodcote,
Representative of the
Descendants of the
Knights of the Garter, a
Freeman of the City of
London, Freeman of The
Guild of Freemen and a
Liveryman of the
Worshipful Company of
Educators. He holds a
Bachelor’s Degree in
Philosophy, is a Fellow
of the Royal Society of
Arts and holds
Governorships of a
Public School, Local
Authority Secondary and
Junior Schools, a
Government "City
Academy", and is an
Educational Arbitrator.
