Grant:
College of Arms 10th
October 2011. Agent
Timothy Duke, granted by
Thomas Woodcock, Garter
Principal King of Arms,
and Patrick Laurence
Dickenson, Clarenceux King
of Arms.
The
saltire in the shield
reflects some Scottish
ancestry and is also
part of a design used
by a Boarding school
that the armiger
attended and was
heavily involved with
in Aurora, Canada,
called St. Andrew’s
College.
The colour red
represents England,
Canada (where the
armiger was born and
spent his formative
years), the City of
London, where he lives
and works, and is also
a livery colour of St.
Andrew's
College. Red is
also symbolic of
Christ and alludes to
the surname Christie.
Gold represents the
Sun, which is one of
the symbols included,
as well as the
armiger's efforts to
attain wisdom and be
as generous as
circumstances may
permit.
The main
symbols represent the
two sides of life from
which we emanate, to
which we owe our
gratitude, and which
sustain us: the Cross
Crosslets represent
the importance of the
Spiritual and the Suns
represents the
Physical; the Cross
Crosslets are above
and below representing
Heaven and
Earth. The Suns
are side by side
emphasizing that they
cover the entire Globe
from East to West and
there are two,
acknowledging that
there are several Suns
(of which the one that
the Earth revolves
around is one).
The
Phoenix alludes to
Christ (Surname,
Christie) and also to
the importance of
continuously growing
and the different
cycles of time and
ages we go
through. It
holds a Maple Leaf in
its beak to note
Canada, where the
armiger was
born. It sits on
a demi-terrestrial
Globe, alluding to the
significant travel he
has been fortunate
enough to do (70+
Countries).
