Weidle, was the
founder of the
Weidle
family-line in
Gerlingen.
Through his son,
Johann Jakob
Weidle, he had
16
grandchildren.
Many of his
descendants
still live in
Gerlingen, but
since the 19th
century they can
also be found in
the United
States of
America in
Lancaster
County, Lebanon
County, Venango
County,
Pennsylvania, as
well as in
Newark, New
Jersey and other
states and
countries of the
US.
The coat of arms
of winery owner
Jakob Weidle,
originally a
house mark
(shield alone),
has been used
since
approximately
1700 as a signet
and it can still
be found today
on an old
farmhouse near
Gerlingen.
