The armiger is a member of an old noble family from the Kingdom of Bohemia, which is mentioned as early as the 16th century in the village Tourov / Taurow / Turow / Turowy / Taurova / Tourove (district of Strakonice).

The founder of this lineage was Mathias Stepanek (born c. 1570, died c. 1645). The most important member of this family was Ritter Thomas John Baptist Francis Stepanek de Taurow (c.1670 - 2 September 1749), Dean of the Chapter of Sts. Peter and Paul at Vysehrad in Prague and the mitred prelate (praelatus infulatus) of the Kingdom of Bohemia, who was ennobled on 18 December 1748 by the Empress Maria Theresia, Queen of Bohemia, as a knight of the Kingdom of Bohemia. The family now resides in Prerov in the Czech Republic and is represented by Mr. Andreas Stepanek de Taurow.

The armorial bearings of Ritter Thomas John Baptist Francis Stepanek de Taurow, Dean of the Chapter of Sts. Peter and Paul at Vysehrad in Prague and the mitred prelate (praelatus infulatus) of the Kingdom of Bohemia, as illustrated on the original Letters Patent of his ennoblement dated 18th December 1748 (Kingdom of Bohemia).
