Martin Haban

Registered: The International Register of Arms, 16th January 2020. Registration No. 0526 (Vol.3).

Arms: Azure, an arm embowed fesseways habited Argent the hand Proper holding an ear of wheat Or.

Crest:   Two eagle’s wings endorsed Azure.

Ancient Grant: Ancient Arms, Kingdom of Bohemia (Czech Republic).

The oldest known ancestor of the family is Jakub Haban (born ca. 1652, died December 30, 1682 Hodolany near Olomouc, Margraviate of Moravia). His great-grandson Matej Haban (born September 11, 1735 Hodolany, died January 17, 1792 Hodolany) was Mayor (Purkmistr) of Hodolany.

In the following centuries the family moved to finally settle in Kokory near Prerov, Czech Republic. The current head of the family is Martin Haban, Mayor of Brezina u Krtin, Czech Republic.

The blue field of the arms refers to the Morava river, the farmer's hand holding an ear of grain, refers to the farming origin of the Haban family and also to the possible origin of the surname Haban from the old czech word "habat" which means to greedily take.
