The Arms of Stefaan
                                              Van de Cappelle

The shield refers to three centuries of professions within the family: the hammers as a symbol for the blacksmiths and the wheels as a symbol for the cart and wagon builders. The butterfly refers to the family name, because a butterfly in old Flemish was called 'kapel' or chapel. The scalopped division of the shield's chief refers to stylized digits 1 and 0, referring to the armiger's profession in IT. The colours of the shield refer to the colours of the coat of arms of Bruges, where his family comes from.

The ravens in the crest refers to the armiger's studies as a historian, with Odin's raven Huginn (referring to 'thinking', 'planning') and Muninn ('memory'). The Motto referrs to the armiger's trust in the future.
